Viral star Russell Horning known as the Backpack Kid responded to Katy Perry’s recent trip and how he was “proud of her for that”
Chatting to host Andrew White on the showbiz programme Pulse Of The Nation, Russell Horning spoke about his relationship with Katy Perry :“I’m proud of her for that, very proud”
He continued: “People think we're like best friends, or we were for a certain period of time, but the funny thing is, I personally have never had any contact with her outside of just in person, and I think I met her three times, and that's all I've ever heard from her”
Later in the show, he discussed the only two reasons he would perform the viral dance anymore: “ I'll do the dance for two strict reasons only, if it's for a specific purpose, like I teamed up with a non-profit, and we do mental health assemblies around different high schools and middle schools”
He continued: “So for something like that, yes, I'll do the dance, or if it's to make money to reinvest back into the things that I'm trying to do for my future career, then I feel like that's a positive way of doing it too. But I'm not just sitting here on social media all day long. Just floss and floss and floss and floss”
Also in this episode, Russell shared what it was like to a viral child star: “It can get kind of like addicting, and then as soon as the virality starts to disperse, and you kind of want to do things that you wouldn't like normally do, to try to keep that viral fame”
